Full Range of Filter Elements
Aqua (Scotland) Ltd filters are made of industry standard materials such as polypropylene, nylon, fibre glass, micro fiberglass, polyethersulfone and teflon. Three types of basic microporous filtration: depth, membrane and surface and the three serve very different functions. A wide selection of filter elements and these are available in several ranges for example:
- Various End Configurations, Gasket or O Ring
- Various Retention Rating (Microns Rating)
- Various Filter Removal Efficiency Rating
- Various Dimensions and Operating Parameters (Size etc)
- FDA compliance
Different Capabilities and Functions
The advantages of basic filtration are that Absolute filters remove all particles and microorganisms greater than the pore size and require minimal maintenance. The disadvantages of basic filtration are that the filters will not remove dissolved inorganics, chemicals, pyrogens or all colloidals. The advantages of ultra filtration (UF) are that these types of filters effectively removes most particles, pyrogens, microorganisms, and colloids above their rated size. Also they produce highest quality water for least amount of energy and are regenerable. The disadvantages of ultra filtration will not remove dissolved inorganics.
Depth Filter Elements
The main function of depth filters is removal of larger particles. An important feature of depth filtration is the ability to hold significant quantity of trapped solids. This is achieved by the dirt-holding capability by means of the thickness of their media. Pore sizes that are graded to be smaller in the direction of fluid flow, so that big coarser particles are trapped and removed first.
Pleated Filter Elements
Pleated polypropylene filters provides high flow rates and dirt-holding capability, while maintaining extremely low pressure drop and are normally "particulate rated". Surface filters use a thin medium, on which a layer of collected solids forms. The thin media are paper-like, nonwoven "fleece", wire mesh or sheet membrane, which are then pleated to maximise surface area.
Membrane Filter Elements
The membranes filters being polymer films created with specific pore ratings consists of micro porous holes, in comparison, to stop contaminants. An important key feature of membrane filters is the ability retain particles and microorganisms that exceed their pore ratings by acting as a physical barrier and capturing such particles on the surface of the membrane.
